Francesca Consagra

Francesca Consagra, (1958-2018) was curator emerita of the Blanton Museum at the University of Texas, Austin. She served as the museum’s senior curator of prints and drawings and European paintings from 2012 to 2016.

During her tenure at the Blanton, Consagra was responsible for key acquisitions to the institution’s encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings. She also grew attendance to the print study room to over 2,500 annual visitors; planned the rehang of the print collection; and staged exhibitions such as “Portraits During the Reign of George III” (2012–13), “Luminous: 50 Years of Collecting Prints and Drawings at the Blanton” (2013), and “In the Company of Cats and Dogs” (2014). She previously held positions at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, the St. Louis Art Museum, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, and Vassar College.
