John Carranza is currently a third year PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin where he is studying the history of science and medicine. His dissertation will focus on disability, sexuality, and public health in the US from the late 1960s to the 1980s. He contributes monthly to Synapsis: A Health Humanities Journal online, and has reviewed books for UT’s public history website, Not Even Past.
