Frank A. Guridy is Associate Professor in the Department of History at Columbia University. His recent research has moved into the realm of sport history: a history of race and masculinity in Black Diasporic sporting cultures; and a book-length study of the role of stadiums in U.S. cities also during the 20th century. He is the author of Forging Diaspora: Afro-Cubans and African Americans in a World of Empire and Jim Crow(University of North Carolina Press, 2010), and co-editor of Beyond el Barrio: Everyday Life in Latino/a America (NYU Press, 2010).
